A ghostly shimmer beneath the ice signals the presence of the Frostwyrm-Fisch’s most elusive catch. To reel it in, you’ll need more than luck: the right bait, weather, and timing make all the difference between a frozen line and a legendary trophy.
Fisch Frostwyrm Location
Frostwyrm can be found deep within the northern glacier zones of Fisch, where icy waters and low light create the perfect conditions for this rare catch. The best chance to spot it comes during the late-night cycle, especially near frozen river mouths surrounded by crystal formations. Bringing specialized baits that mimic cold-water prey increases your success rate, as Frostwyrm tends to ignore common lures. Watch for faint glowing movements beneath the surface, a clear sign that one is nearby.
The Frostwyrm can only spawn at the Crystal Fissure location during the Frostwyrm Hunt event. It is the exotic fish from the Boreal Pines bestiary. To find this area, you must first head off to the Boreal Pines located in the Northern Expedition region. Once you have landed on the island, follow the steps below to reach the Crystal Fissure:
- From the Marvin NPC that gives you the Winter Boots, head left and follow the lanterns.
- Just ahead of the second lantern, you will find the opening to a cave on your left.
- Head inside to reach the Crystal Fissure, or you can simply use a GPS to reach these coordinates: 21781.7, 137.5, 4029.
This is the region where the Frostwyrm will spawn during a Frostwyrm event on the server. This is very similar to a Megalodon hunt or a Kraken hunt, and therefore, you can use a Sundial totem to speed up the process. Do note that the beast has the highest chances of spawning during a winter season, so make sure to make the most of this time.
Once the event is active, a notification will pop up on top of the screen, and this is your call to get inside the Fissure and catch that creature.

Tips and Tricks to Get the Frostwyrm in Fisch
Use fast-casting baits like shimmering minnows and frost-tinted worms near snag-prone weed beds at dawn or dusk, then hover your line just above the ice to coax the frostwyrm to bite.
Being lucky enough to get the Frostwyrm event in your server is just half the total work. Now, the real battle begins, where you must use your best fishing rod to catch the Frostwyrm. But before that, here are the preferences for this fish:
- Preferred Baits: Sapphire Krill, Frostnova Bait
- Weather: Rain
- Time: Night
- Season: Winter
It’s best that you use the above-mentioned baits and fish during such conditions to have the highest chances of catching a Frostwyrm. So, once you’re able to hook the fish on your rod, it will inflict a -92% progress speed effect, which can completely stall your beginner rods. To counter this, you can use rods with progress speed boost effects like the Wind Elemental Rod or the Eidolon Rod.
Try using the best enchantments in Fisch for your fishing rod, like Mystical, Immortal, or Oveclocked, to have further boosts. I would also suggest popping an Aurora totem for that extra luck boost, and it can increase the chances of catching this creature.
Best bait and rod combo for catching Frostwyrm fast
For catching Frostwyrm as fast and consistently as possible, the strongest overall setup is a high progress-speed rod (Wind Elemental or Eidolon) paired with Sapphire Krill or Frostnova Bait, under rainy winter nights in the Crystal Fissure cave during a Frostwyrm Hunt.ββ
Best bait choice
-
Primary bait: Sapphire Krill – listed as one of Frostwyrm’s preferred baits and used in most optimized guides for Boreal Pines exotics, including Frostwyrm.ββ
-
Alternative bait: Frostnova Bait – also a listed preferred bait for Frostwyrm and performs similarly if you have more of it.ββ
-
Use luck-boosting consumables/totems (like Aurora) alongside these baits to increase the chance that the rare hunt hook you get is actually Frostwyrm.ββ
Best rod for Frostwyrm
-
Top combo rods:
-
Wind Elemental Rod – specifically recommended because Frostwyrm applies about a -92% progress speed effect, which can completely stall weaker rods; Wind Elemental’s progress boost helps push through this penalty.ββ
-
Eidolon Rod – also called out as a best-in-slot option for Frostwyrm due to very high progress speed and strong stats against hunt-type bosses.ββ
-
-
Enchants: Stack high-tier progress enchants such as Mystical, Immortal, or Overclocked to counter the -92% debuff and shorten the fight.ββ
Fastest “meta” combo summary
-
Rod: Wind Elemental or Eidolon Rod with strong enchants (Mystical/Immortal/Overclocked) and high luck.ββ
-
Bait: Sapphire Krill as first choice, Frostnova Bait as backup.ββ
-
Conditions: Fish in the Boreal Pines Crystal Fissure cave during a Frostwyrm Hunt, at night, in winter, with rain, and use a Sundial-style totem to force more hunt checks so you get Frostwyrm attempts faster.ββ
Which location and time maximize Frostwyrm spawns
Frostwyrm has only one actual spawn area, but its spawn rate is hugely affected by season, time, and weather. To maximize spawns, stay in Crystal Fissure during winter and force as many “hunt checks” as possible under rainy nights.β
Best location
-
Crystal Fissure only: Frostwyrm spawns exclusively at the Crystal Fissure cave inside the Boreal Pines region (Northern Expedition).β
-
How to get there quickly: From Marvin (Winter Boots NPC) in Boreal Pines, follow the lantern path to the nearby cave entrance, or use GPS coordinates around 21781.7, 137.5, 4029 to go straight to the fissure.β
Best time and season
-
Season: Winter has the highest Frostwyrm Hunt spawn chance; most players only see Frostwyrm during winter servers.β
-
Time of day: Night is the preferred time for Frostwyrm and is listed among its optimal conditions.β
-
Weather: Rainy weather further boosts its effective chances since Frostwyrm explicitly prefers rain on top of winter nights.β
Practical “max spawn” setup
-
Stay parked in Crystal Fissure on a winter server and wait for the Frostwyrm Hunt announcement, rather than roaming elsewhere.β
-
Aim for rainy winter nights; if you have any time-cycling or hunt-forcing totems (like Sundial-style items), use them there to trigger more hunt rolls without leaving the cave.β
