How to Obtain the Dusky Thread in Fisch
Players obtain Dusky Thread exclusively from Merlin upon finishing the Astraeus Serenade quest part 1. Speak to Merlin after his prior quests to receive the task of submitting one Celestial Radiant Crystal, one Serene Radiant Crystal, and one Breezed Radiant Crystal. Catch these mutated Radiant Crystals in the Mineshaft area behind Merlin’s house using specialized rods like the Celestial Rod, Polaris Serened Rod, and Wind Elemental Rod, then return them to Merlin for the reward.
The Dusky Thread can be obtained from Merlinas the reward for submitting the three requested fish for the Astraeus Serenade quest part 1. To start the Astraeus Serenade quest, you need to talk with Merlin and have all his previous quests completed. The three fish required are all the same: the Radiant Crystal. However, each has a different mutation on it. Here’s a list of them:
- Celestial Radiant Crystal
- Serene Radiant Crystal
- Breezed Radiant Crystal
You can find all three fish from the Mineshaft, which was added after the Merlin Rework. The Mineshaft can be accessed by jumping on the sea behind Merlin’s house. However, you can’t enter the location normally without Merlin’s Veil.
How to Get Radiant Crystals
As we discussed, you need three Fisch mutations on the Radiant Crystals to get the Dusky Thread. Here’s how you can get all three of them:
- Celestial Radiant Crystal: This mutation on fish can be obtained only with the Celestial Rod. There’s a 100% chance of obtaining it during the Celestial Bonus admin weather event.
- Serene Radiant Crystal: The Serene mutation is obtainable using the Polaris Serenade Rod with a 20% chance. You can even use the Duskwire Rod with a 2% chance, or a 4% chance after a perfect catch. Both rods can be obtained from the Underground Music venue.
- Breezed Radiant Crystal: Lastly, there is a 25% chance to get the Breezed mutation using the Wind Elemental Rod. So get the rod to complete this step.
While using the above rods, make sure you use the Enchantments that suit the rods. We recommend using the Mutated Enchantment for a 90% extra mutation chance.
Once you have all three fish, head back to Merlin and give them to him. After that, he’ll craft the Dusky Thread for you.
How to Use Dusky Thread in Fisch
Dusky Thread is earned by completing Merlin’s Astraeus Serenade quest chain and is then added to your inventory, where it serves as a key crafting material for the Astraeus Serenade Rod. It’s obtained after turning in the three required Radiant Crystals (Breezed, Serene, Celestial) and talking to Merlin to unlock the crafting prompt. After acquisition, use the Dusky Thread in the crafting menu alongside the other components to assemble the desired rod.
After completing the quest, the Dusky Thread will be in your inventory automatically. Dusky Thread is one of the items needed to craft the Astraeus Serenade rod. Once you get all the ingredients, you can craft the rod using them.
Where to find each Radiant Crystal mutation in the Mineshaft
Radiant Crystal mutations are fished exclusively from the Mineshaft pool in Fisch’s Chasm area. All three types-Breezed, Serene, and Celestial-drop there as natural mutations on Radiant Crystals, without needing appraisal.
Breezed Radiant Crystal
Use the Wind Elemental Rod, which has a 25% chance to trigger the Breezed mutation on Radiant Crystal catches in the Mineshaft.
Serene Radiant Crystal
Equip the Polaris Serenade Rod (20% chance) or Duskwire Rod (2-4% chance) while fishing in the Mineshaft pool.
Celestial Radiant Crystal
Apply the Celestial Rod to increase chances of the Celestial mutation on Radiant Crystals from the same Mineshaft location.
Best rods to farm each Radiant Crystal mutation
Wind Elemental Rod is optimal for farming Breezed Radiant Crystal mutations in the Mineshaft pool. It provides a 25% mutation chance specifically for Breezed variants on Radiant Crystals.
Polaris Serenade Rod excels for Serene Radiant Crystal mutations. With a 20% chance-far superior to the Duskwire Rod’s 2-4%-it boosts efficiency for this mutation.
Celestial Rod stands out for Celestial Radiant Crystal farming. Its passive directly enhances Celestial mutation rates on Radiant Crystals caught there.
