Rumors say the Demonite Key can turn any Forge run into a treasure spree, but getting it isn’t simple – you’ll need sharp instincts, precise timing, and the right Demonic Pickaxe to claim it before the shadows close in.
How to Obtain Demonite Key in The Forge
To obtain the Demonite Key, travel to the Volcanic Depths in the Ruined Caves and locate the demon NPC Skal near the lava-filled tunnels. Speak with Skal to receive a quest that requires three Demonite ores, which drop rarely from Volcanic Rocks mined with a high-power pickaxe. Farm Demonite until you have all three ores, then return to Skal and hand them over to have the Demonite Key added directly to your inventory, ready for the Demonic Pickaxe door.
The Demonite Key is a reward that players can get by giving three Demonite ore to the NPC Demon Skal in The Forge. It is another addition to the already rewards list in The Forge quests. Now the question is, where can you find him? Skal is located deep inside the Volcanic Depths of the Ruined Caves in the Forgotten Kingdom.
Therefore, you will first require a portal tool to teleport to this new region and follow the steps below to get the Demonite Key in The Forge:
- Use the massive cannon to reach the hilltop and enter the Ruined Caves.
- Take the right path and again take a right turn to reach the room with the Amber NPC inside. Break the Basalt Vein to head inside the room below.
- Now, you must walk past the molten lava and take the right path to reach a secret room where the Skal NPC is located.
- The room is on the left of where you see the locked Demonic Pickaxe door.
- Interact with Skal and choose the first dialogue option to know what he needs. He will ask you to bring 3 Demonite ores.
- Now head back inside the Volcanic Depths and break the Volcanic Rocks using your best pickaxe. Make sure your pickaxe has more than 100 Mining power to break them.
Breaking the Volcanic Rocks is the only way to get Demonite ores; however, there’s just a 1 in 3666 chance to get them. So, it will take a while and some time to mine and get three of those. You can refer to our list of best pickaxes in The Forge to find your suitable pick.
Once done, head back to Skal and submit all those items to get the Demonite Key.

How to Use Demonite Key in The Forge
After obtaining the Demonite Key, head to The Forge and approach the main altar near the molten core. Interact with the altar while the key is in your inventory to open the Demonite Slot. This action triggers access to advanced crafting options, including recipes for the Demonic Pickaxe. Ensure you have sufficient forge energy and required materials before activation, as the process consumes resources and cannot be reversed once started.
With the introduction of the Demonite Key, players can now enter the Demonite Pickaxe Room that was previously locked. Although a lot of players use glitched ways, like the portal tool and the Demonic Race to enter the room, it wasn’t a guaranteed option.
Having found the Demonite Key, you can head to the room and use the key to open it. Here you will find the Demonic Pickaxe that has an epic mining power of 175. Additionally, with three Rune Slots, you can equip the best shards to further boost its power and mine powerful rocks with ease.

Access Volcanic Depths
Reach level 10, complete tutorial quests, and use the portal tool to enter the Forgotten Kingdom. Head to the Ruined Caves (main entrance near Captain Rowan’s camp), follow the right path past the Ashen Passage, break two Basalt Veins with a pickaxe of at least 78 mine power, and drop into Volcanic Depths. Avoid or fight enemies like Blazing Slimes and Elite Rogue Skeletons while proceeding to the locked Demonic Pickaxe Room door in the back-right corner.
Obtain Demonite Key
Locate NPC Demon Skal (or Skal) in a hidden side room to the left of the locked door. Speak to him and accept his quest to collect 3 Demonite ores by mining Volcanic Rock nodes throughout Volcanic Depths and the Forgotten Kingdom (drop rate ~1 in 3,666-use 100+ mine power pickaxe like Arcane and luck boosts). Return the ores to Skal; he forges and gives you the Demonite Key.
Unlock and Purchase
With the Demonite Key in your inventory, interact (E key) with the lava-vined locked door to open it. Enter the Demonic Pickaxe Room, approach the red pickaxe on the black throne/shrine, and buy it for $500,000 (earn via quests or mining).
