Camel Husks aren’t your typical Minecraft mobs-they’re stubborn, unpredictable, and oddly fascinating. Learning how to tame them means mastering their quirks, from feeding habits to terrain behavior, and turning a wandering desert beast into your loyal companion.
Although the Camel Husk is an undead mob, you can tame and ride this creature all around the Minecraft world. So, learn about the Camel Husk in Minecraft and how you can tame this creature.
How to Find Camel Husk in Minecraft
Camel Husks can usually be found wandering in desert villages, especially around stables or near groups of camels. They spawn naturally during daytime in well-lit areas, so exploring the edges of desert biomes increases your chances of spotting them. Players may also encounter them during special desert events or after loading new desert chunks. Bringing some food and keeping hostile mobs away at night helps you search safely until you find a herd to tame.
The Camel Husk is an undead variant of the regular camels found in the desert biome. This mob will be released with the Mounts of Mayhem update, but until then, make sure you download the latest snapshot to test it out.
Camel Husks onlyspawn in the desert biomes during the night (or when the light level is 0). In addition, the following rules determine the spawning of a Camel Husk and other mobs associated with it.
- Out of all the Camel Husks spawning at night, only 10% have a chance to spawn with two riders, including a Husk mob at the front and a Parched at the back
- This mob can only spawn in an open area that can accommodate a camel-sized mob. Moreover, it won’t spawn inside the caves, similar to a Husk.
- When the undead Camel spawns in a group of Husks, only one of them is allowed to mount the Camel. And, no baby Husk can ride a Camel Husk.

How to Tame Camel Husk in Minecraft
To tame a Camel Husk in Minecraft, locate one in desert biomes at night, where they spawn with a 5% chance alongside regular husks. Approach carefully while holding a lead or saddle, then right-click the mob to initiate the taming process-success depends on its health remaining above half during the attempt. Feed it sugar or cactus once leashed to gain trust, reducing its hostility and allowing it to follow you like a tamed camel. Repeat feeding if it breaks free, and use a saddle for riding after full taming. This turns the undead variant into a loyal desert mount.
Similar to Zombie Horses and Zombie Nautilus in Minecraft, the Camel Husks are hostile towards the player only when ridden by the Husks and Parched.
You must defeat both riders first before thinking about taming this mob. An easy way to do so is to carry a shield and use your bow to shoot arrows at the riders without dealing damage to the Camel Husk.
Once you’ve defeated the riders, 95% of the job is done, and you can follow the steps below to tame the mob:
- The favorite food of the Camel Husk is rabbit’s foot, so hold it in your hand and approach the mob.
- Note that the Camel Husk’s attention will get diverted towards you.
- Now, click the right mouse button and feed the rabbit’s foot to the mob.
- Red hearts will appear over the Camel Husk’s head, and it will be tamed.
Unlike the horses, there is no need to ride the mob to gain its trust. The rabbit’s foot will do the job completely. In addition to this camel variant, you can tame the Zombie Horse, which is a new horse variant introduced with the Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem update.
How to Ride a Came Husk in Minecraft
Camel Husks are hostile mobs spawned in deserts and strongholds. To ride one, lure it with bones to make it calm, then feed a camel with a saddle to mount. Use a lead to position the camel, then right-click (or use the interact button) to sit and ride. Be prepared for erratic movement as it electrifies across dunes, and keep a shield handy for its stomps.
After feeding the Camel Husk, you can right-click on the mob again with an empty hand to ride it. Although you can ride it, there will be no way to control the mob. For that, you require a saddle in Minecraft.
While riding the Camel Husk, press the E key to open the inventory. Now, place the saddle in the camel’s saddle slot to equip the item. Alternatively, you can hold the saddle in your hand, go near the Camel Husk, and place the saddle on its back directly by clicking the right mouse button.
The Camel Husk doesn’t have a slot to equip armor. But the Camel Husk won’t even need one due to its immunity to direct sunlight and its huge health bar as well.
With the saddle equipped, you can control the Camel Husk’s movements by using the direction keys. Alongside, you can press and hold the jump key to charge up your dash meter. Wait for the meter to turn orange and then release the jump key to dash the maximum distance in the game.
