What Are O.X.R. Bunkers and How to Open Them?

OX R bunkers are secure underground vaults scattered across Fortnite’s map, each housing a locked Exotic weapon. To open them, you’ll typically need to locate a nearby keycard or terminal, then solve a brief puzzle or defeat nearby enemies to gain access. Once unlocked, you can claim the Exotic weapon inside, along with potential loot and strategic advantages for your squad.

In Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4, O.X.R. Bunkers are special locations that provide players with high-tier loot such as exotic weapons, high-rarity loot, many chests, and plenty of ammunition. These bunkers are unusual from previous Fortnite bunkers in that they have big, lockable metal doors that must be unlocked under specified conditions. To open an OXR Bunker, players must earn O.X.R. Rank A during a Battle Royale match.

This rank is obtained by gaining Rank XP through acts such as eliminating players (75 XP per), defeating Queen bugs (200 XP), claiming Capture Points (250 XP), destroying Swarmer Nests (30 XP), eliminating Bombers (50 XP), destroying Hive Stashes (60 XP), or opening a bunker (400 XP). The fastest option is to capture Outposts and defeat bugs. Once you reach Rank A, bunker locations will appear on the map as white icons. Players can then approach a bunker, interact with the door, and gain access to the precious rewards inside.

Double Trouble: A dual pump-action shotgun set with 121 damage, 0.7 fire rate, and a 5-round magazine. Players can switch between the two shotguns quickly, allowing for fast, high-damage bursts. The siphon’s health effect: every hit improves survival in close-range battles.
Marksman Wrecker Revolver: This handgun, which deals 61 damage with a 2.07 fire rate and an 8-round magazine, works similarly to a shotgun but with increased hip-fire speed and headshot multipliers. It excels in medium-to-close-range combat, allowing for double-pump techniques when combined with another shotgun.

Step-by-step to open a bunker

Play the match until you reach O.X.R. Rank A (you start at C and rank up through B to A, then S and S+).
Rank up by:
- Eliminating bugs and destroying nests / Hive Stashes
- Eliminating players and surviving storm circles
- Capturing Outposts and other objectives that give O.X.R. XP
Once you hit Rank A, bunker icons automatically appear on your map as small white bunker symbols.
Go to any marked O.X.R. Bunker (big metal door with an “A” symbol), look at the door, and hold the interact button to scan and open it.

Fast ways to hit Rank A

Land at Outposts, clear bug infestations, and capture the point for big O.X.R. XP boosts.
Hunt Bomber and Swarmer bugs, destroy Hive Stashes, and, if possible, defeat the Queen Bug for large rank gains.
Stay active in fights rather than hiding, since player eliminations and surviving circles also raise your rank quickly.

Southwest of Foxy Floodgate – Follow the main road that crosses the dam; the bunker is on the left side of the road built into a snowy mountain just southwest of the POI.
South of Utopia City – From the center of Utopia City, run straight south; the bunker sits on a rocky rise just before you reach the bright Rainbow / flower fields to the south.
South of First Order Base – Go to the southern edge of the First Order Base where the snow biome ends; the bunker door is in the rocky transition area just as the ground turns non-snowy.

How to see them on your map

Reach at least O.X.R. Rank A during the match; then small white bunker icons appear automatically on your main map and minimap at these four fixed positions.
If the storm closes over one bunker, rotate to another icon, since all four can spawn and stay active as long as they are in-zone.
