All Star Tower Defense X Ascend Evolve Units Guide ASTD X 2025

Guides

Ascend or evolve your units in All Star Tower Defense X: master the hidden mechanics guiding how every upgrade reshapes your squad, from rare shards to flawless synergies.

There are two types of leveling-up characters in ASTDX- Evolve and Ascend. Evolve works on specific 3-star or 4-star characters while Ascend is for high-tier units. Below is the simple process explaining how to ascend and evolve units in the game.

How to Ascend Units in All Star Tower Defense X

To ascend units in All Star Tower Defense X, open your Units menu, select a character that shows the purple Ascend option, and tap that button to view its requirements. You will usually need a mix of gold and specific ascension materials, which are mainly earned from Story Mode stages and challenge missions. Once you have everything listed, visit the ascension NPCs in the lobby, interact with them, and confirm the process to boost the unit’s stats, upgrade cap, and overall potential.

In ASTDX, some 5-star or higher characters can be ascended. To ascend a unit, first, select it from your load-outs. Now, click the Ascend button at the bottom. This will show the required materials for the ascension process.

Once you have the items, click on the gold amount button to spend all the materials and gold to ascend the character in All Star Tower Defense X. You will find the materials from specific NPC quests, challenges, evolutions, ASTDX codes, and story rewards.

How to Evolve Units in All Star Tower Defense X

Open the Units tab and select a 3-star or 4-star character eligible for evolution. Press the Evolve button to view required materials, such as specific items from challenges, duplicate units, and gold. Gather those resources through gameplay modes like warp challenges, then confirm the process by spending the gold and materials to upgrade the unit. This mechanic applies only to select lower-rarity units, distinct from ascension used for higher tiers.

If you are not lucky enough to pull 5-star units, don’t worry. Some 3-star and 4-star characters can still be evolved in ASTDX.

To begin, open your Units tab, select the character, and press the Evolve button. Just like ascension, evolving requires specific materials. Once you have everything needed, click the gold amount option to use your materials and gold to evolve the unit in All Star Tower Defense X.

All Star Tower Defense X: Ascend and Evolve Requirements

Ascending or evolving units in All Star Tower Defense X requires specific materials, duplicates of the same unit, and reaching the proper level threshold. Players must gather evolution items from raids, events, or the in-game shop, depending on each unit’s rarity and type. Only certain characters can ascend to higher tiers, gaining stronger abilities, upgraded stats, and visual changes. Meeting the listed conditions lets players enhance their roster strategically and progress further through tougher stages.

Now that we have explained how the ascend and evolve mechanics work, here is how to ascend top characters like Broly, Gojo, Sukuna, Frieren, or Goku in All Star Tower Defense X. What are the required materials for each evolution

For All Star Tower Defense X, the exact required materials are different for each unit and each evolution/ascension tier, and they are not exposed in a single universal list outside the game. Because of that, there is no accurate “one table for every unit” that can be provided here, and the requirements can also change with balance patches.

How to check materials for each evolution in-game

  • Open the Units menu, tap the unit you want to upgrade, and look for the Evolve or Ascend button.

  • On that screen, the game shows the full list of required materials, including: specific evolution/ascension items, duplicates of other units (if needed as fodder), and the gold cost.

  • If an evolution has multiple stages (for example base → evolved → ascended), each stage will have its own requirements listed on that same panel before you confirm.

Practical way to track them

  • Take screenshots (or write notes) of the evolve/ascend screen for your core units so you can plan farming routes for those specific items.

  • Before investing, compare two or three candidate units by opening their evolution panels and checking which one has cheaper or more farmable materials.

If you tell which unit(s) you want to evolve (name and current rarity), the current materials for those specific evolutions can be looked up and broken down for you step by step.
