From beginner tools to rare power shovels, this ranking breaks down which dig shovels in Roblox truly deliver speed, range, and rewards – and which aren’t worth your grind.
Dig Shovel Tier List
Shovels are ranked by durability, efficiency, and versatility across common digging tasks, with standout picks balancing sturdy construction and fast handling for Roblox adventures and in-game builds.
Roblox Dig has a total of 29 shovels, which you can get from quests, boss fights, or merchants. Some of them are completely free, while others cost a hefty amount that can buzz your wallet with flies. That’s why it is important to choose the right shovel before making any purchase.
Our shovel progression guide helps you pick the best options based on your game stage. But in this Dig shovel tier list, we break down the shovels as per their overall value. That means you will find the ones that are best for farming money, gaining XP fast, and taking down bosses in this guide.
| SS Tier | Prismatic Shovel, Starfire Shovel |
| S Tier | Gold Digger, Shortcake Shovel, Arachnid Shovel, Glinted Shovel |
| A Tier | Candlelight Shovel, Frigid Shovel, Venomous Shovel, Ruby Shovel, Pizza Roller, Spore Spade Shovel, Slayers Shovel |
| B Tier | Monstrous Shovel, Draconic Shovel, Solstice Shovel, Obsidian Shovel, Abyssal Shovel, Magnet Shovel |
| C Tier | Jam Shovel, Bell Shovel, Training Shovel, Toy Shovel, Archaic Shovel |
| D Tier | Bejeweled Shovel, Rock Shovel, Wooden Shovel, Copper Shovel, Lucky Shovel |
As you can see, the SS Tier includes the best shovels, while the D Tier includes the worst ones in the game. While Dig codes do not help out with cash, you can collect daily rewards to purchase shovels. And if you want more, you can make money fast in Dig by following our linked guide. That said, let’s jump into our tier list:
Dig SS-Tier Shovels
We begin our list with SS Tier, and there are only two shovels that deserve to be in this category. Both Prismatic and Starfire Shovels make you a lot of money in the game, thanks to their high-selling value Dig modifiers. On top of that, you get a lot of luck in finding rarer items with a good control bar to dig them up effortlessly.
| Shovel | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Prismatic Shovel | Offers great overall stats and a chance to make items Iridescent (3.5x Value) | Lacks haste stat, difficult to find |
| Starfire Shovel | Great overall stats with massive luck stat and a chance to make items Celestial (4x Value) | Too costly and still similar to Prismatic Shovel stats |
Dig S-Tier Shovels
Next up, we have the S Tier, which contains great mid and late-game shovels. These shovels help increase your chances of digging rare items, farming money, or dealing more boss damage. However, none of these shovels is perfect in every aspect.
That said, you can rely on the Shortcake Shovel early to late in the game, as it only costs $45,000. Despite being so cheap, it helps you earn a lot of money and offers good stats. Once you have more funds, the Gold Digger makes for a solid upgrade.
For boss damage, the Arachnid Shovel is another free option that gives 80 boss damage. And if you have extra cash, the Glinted Shovel stands out in this tier. It comes with two passive abilities and performs well overall. However, the Glinted Shovel is too pricey to get ranked higher on the list.
| Shovel | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Gold Digger | Great overall stat and chance to make items Golden (2.5x Value) | Average haste stat, difficult to find |
| Shortcake Shovel | Great overall stat and chance to make items Tasty (2x Value) | Low haste stat |
| Arachnid Shovel | Best for boss damage at zero cost, high luck stat, and increases control per dig | Horrible strength stat |
| Glinted Shovel | Good overall stats, chance to make items Golden, and gradually heals endurance stat while digging | Too costly for the value it provides |
Dig A-Tier Shovels
If you have the A Tier shovels, don’t worry. These tools are still very useful in Dig. The Candlelight Shovel leads this tier because it’s easy to find and remains effective until you reach the mid-to-late game. It offers strong strength and luck stats, making it a great free option.
If you’re willing to spend, the Frigid Shovel is a solid choice for farming money while also dealing great boss damage. If you want a free option, the Venomous Shovel is a game-changer and can be obtained by defeating Basilisk, one of the easiest bosses in Dig.
For new players, the Ruby Shovel should be the first purchase. It can dig through rock and has balanced stats for a very affordable price. If you want a free option, the Pizza Roller offers great stats for being a delivery quest reward.
The Spore Spade Shovel also fits into A Tier because of the luck boost it provides. Use it to dig up a Spore Totem, then switch to a stronger shovel to find rare items more easily. Lastly, the Slayer’s Shovel is a great pick for boss fights. If you haven’t managed to get the Arachnid or Venomous shovels, this one is a must-have.
| Shovel | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Candlelight Shovel | Get for free and good strength-luck combination | No special abilities and low control bar |
| Frigid Shovel | High luck, strength stats, and chance to make items Frigid (1.8x Value) | Low control bar |
| Venomous Shovel | High strength stat and chance to turn items Venomous (2x Value) | Bad control bar and digs only in dirt |
| Ruby Shovel | Great early game stats and lets you dig on rock | No special abilities |
| Pizza Roller | Chance to give items Pizza modifier (1.45x Value) | Worst haste and takes a decent grind |
| Spore Spade Shovel | Good luck stat and spawns Spore Totem for bonus luck | Low strength stat |
| Slayers Shovel | Gives massive boss damage stat | No special abilities and lacks strength |
Dig B-Tier Shovels
If you go through our Dig shovels list, you will notice that some of them appear in the later stages of the game but don’t really qualify as true late-game shovels. Let us start with the Monstrous Shovel.
I was tempted to rank the Monstrous Shovel below this tier, but its boss damage stat is pretty solid. The Obsidian Shovel has great haste and no passive. Considering how expensive it is, these stats don’t make it a good option. Despite being available from the last Dig location, Draconic Shovel offers a large control bar but comes with weak strength and haste, which limits its usefulness.
On the flip side, the Solstice Shovel gives you a massive strength boost but falls short in every other area. Plus, to get this shovel, you must collect three Basilisks, which can be a massive grind.

The Abyssal Shovel is a decent early-game option that you can get by defeating the King Crab boss. If you constantly run out of enchantment tomes, magnets, or horns, the Magnet Shovel is a smart investment. It’s cheap and efficient when it comes to digging up crates and loot.
| Shovel | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Monstrous Shovel | Free, good stats, and a chance to give Dark modifier (1.1x Value) | Takes a lot of grind |
| Draconic Shovel | Great control bar | Lacks strength and has no special ability |
| Solstice Shovel | Highest strength stat and increases the chance to make items shiny and/or Venomous | Takes a decent grind for the terrible control and luck stats |
| Obsidian Shovel | Great haste stat and decent boss damage | Bad control and strength |
| Abyssal Shovel | Good for boss damage at zero cost, high luck stat, and increases control per dig | Horrible haste stat |
| Magnet Shovel | Increased chance of finding loot items | Can only dig junks |
Dig C-Tier Shovels
The Jam Shovel is an early-game tool that works only when paired with its specific charm, making it a situational pick at best. For the early option, the Bell Shovel gives you a luck boost. But since it lacks other key stats, it won’t help much in digging the items, even if you manage to find them.
The Training and Toy Shovels are solid for beginners and stand out among the early options you get from Rocky’s Shop. Lastly, the Archaic Shovel somehow manages to stay in this tier due to its balanced stats. But don’t go for its stats or price only, you must reach level 20 to get to Copper Mesa, and by that time, you will have better shovels in your hand.
| Shovel | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Jam Shovel | Chance to give extra haste to the player and others in an area | Low control and strength stats |
| Bell Shovel | High luck stat | Bad overall stats |
| Training Shovel | Best for newbies to practice | Horrible luck stat |
| Toy Shovel | Solid stats for the price, great for rare item digs | No special abilities |
| Archaic Shovel | Balanced stats for low-level | Takes 20 levels to get and offers early game stats |
Dig D-Tier Shovels
Finally, it’s time for the D Tier shovels. And yes, we are starting with the one shovel that costs Robux – the Bejeweled Shovel. This shovel is only available through the Shovel Club gamepass in Dig, and as someone who bought it, I genuinely regret the purchase.
The Wooden, Copper, and Rock Shovels are okay for beginners, but they offer such minor stat boosts that they’re easy to skip. Then there’s the Lucky Shovel, which ranks as the worst shovel in the game. You spend money on it for extra luck, but its other stats are so poor that you’ll struggle to dig up the rare items you actually find.
| Shovel | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Bejeweled Shovel | Good control for the early game | Worst purchase decision |
| Rock Shovel | Can dig rocks | Low haste stat |
| Wooden Shovel | Good for newbies | Upgrade ASAP |
| Copper Shovel | Balanced stats for the early game | Horrible luck stat |
| Lucky Shovel | Good luck stat | Terrible overall stats |
