How to Get Mythical Driftwood in Fisch
Catch regular Driftwood using crab cages from the merchant on Moosewood Island, then take it to the Appraiser NPC for a chance at the Mythical mutation. Alternatively, fish directly with a Mythical Rod purchased from the Travelling Merchant, pairing it with Garbage bait to increase Driftwood pulls that may already carry the mutation. Appraisals cost 450 Cash each, and luck plays a big role, so stock up on cages and keep trying during Mutation Surge events for better odds.
Do note that the Mythical Driftwood itself isn’t an item but a mutation of the regular Driftwood in Fisch. Currently, there are two ways to get the Mythical Driftwood. This is either by appraising the regular Driftwood or by fishing for it.
Both these methods require a decent amount of cash and are only recommended for players with over 250,000 cash or more. With that said, here are the two ways to get Mythical Driftwood in Fisch:
1. Appraising the Regular Driftwood
The first method requires players to catch and appraise a normal Driftwood to get the Mythical Driftwood mutation. As such, you will need a lot of crab cages to catch the regular wood. Follow the steps below to do so:
- Head over to Moosewood Island and buy 30-50 cages beside the Merchant.
- Once bought, start placing these cages all over the Moosewood Pond, and around the island. This way, you will surely get at least one regular Driftwood in just a few minutes.
- Having found one, head to the Appraiser beside the Merchant and ask them to appraise the value of the Driftwood for 450 cash.
Do note that we recommend you appraise only during a Mutation Surge event to have a better chance of getting a mythical mutation on your Driftwood. This method will take a while as you must keep appraising the Driftwood. Furthermore, getting two of these may cost you around 50,000-100,000 cash, so make sure you have the amount.
2. Fishing the Mythical Driftwood
Now, if the first method doesn’t seem to be working for you and given that you have lots of cash to spare, try this second method. The mythical mutation is rarely found while fishing. As such, you will require the Mythical Rod.
It can be bought from the Travelling Merchant for 110,000 cash and its passive lets you catch 30% of the items with Mythicalmutation. This is part of all Fisch mutations and one you should get. Also Read: How to Catch and Use a Nuke in Fisch
Once you have the rod, all you need are lots of garbage baits. Try buying the regular bait crates for 120 cash at any island to get these. - Head to the Sunstone cave at these coordinates: X=-1142, Y= 134, and Z= -1085. This cave is located to the very east of Merlin’s Hut.
- Equip the garbage bait on your Mythical Rod and start fishing to catch a Mythical Driftwood.
This area is filled with trash items, and you won’t get any fish here. This also makes it the perfect place to get other forms of Driftwood.
Many other Fischers might recommend fishing in the Moosewood pond using the same combination of rod and bait, as luck favored them there. I got my first Mythical Driftwood at the Sunstone Cave, and I feel you could get one here in your first 30 minutes as well.
Mythical Driftwood Uses in Fisch
Mythical Driftwood can be used to craft rare fishing rods, enhance gear stats, or trade for high-value items in Fisch. Players often combine it with special materials gained from fishing mutations to upgrade equipment or improve catch rates. Some advanced recipes require multiple pieces, making Mythical Driftwood one of the most sought-after components for players who want stronger tools or limited-edition cosmetic upgrades.
The Mythical Driftwood has its fair share of uses in Fisch. For starters, the Wisdom Rod can be crafted using 2 Mythical Driftwood at the Ancient Archives. Once you unlock the craftable area, you’ll find other rods requiring different variations of the regular Driftwood.
Besides the Driftwood, you’ll require 1 Ruby, 1 Magic Thread, and 50,000 cash to get the Wisdom Rod. Like any other Gemstones in Fisch, you’ll get a Ruby from the Meteor Crash site at Ancient Isles, whereas Magic Thread can be caught anywhere alongside a fish.
Besides the Wisdom Rods, Mythical Driftwood is also required to craft the Precision Rod. While not the best rods out there, these make their way into our Fisch rod tier list.

Moosewood Island offers the highest Driftwood spawn rates in Fisch due to its low-fish zones ideal for trash catches like Driftwood.
Top Crab Cage Spots
The pond near Moosewood’s merchant is prime for placing crab cages (buy 30-50 for 45C$ each), as it yields Driftwood every 5-20 cages with minimal fish interference-place only where the outline turns green. The dock or pier next to the Shipwright NPC works similarly for quick placements and claims after 3-4 minutes.
Active Fishing Locations
Fish poorly at the Moosewood pier with a Training Rod (-70% Luck) and Magnet or Garbage bait to target Trash rarity Driftwood effectively. Outside areas around Moosewood’s front and back entrances also support crab cages for steady trash pulls.
Efficiency Tips
Combine pond crab cages with pier fishing during Mutation Surges for mutated variants; server-hop for surges and stockpile regular Driftwood for appraising nearby.

The main pier area next to the Shipwright NPC also works well; deploy 10-20 cages (45C$ each from nearby Merchant) and check for sparkling exclamation marks.
Placement Tips
Avoid high-fish spots shown red on Fish Radar; focus pier edges or shallow dock waters for 1 Driftwood per 10-20 cages, stacking with pond setups for volume. Wait 3-4 minutes per cycle during Mutation Surges for potential Mythical variants.
