All Algae Locations in Dr. Glimmerfin Fisch Quest
Dr. Glimmerfin’s quest requires algae from three spots: the shallow pools near Coral Cove spawn green strands every morning; deep trenches by Abyss Edge hold blue clusters after midnight; and floating mats in Tidepool Lagoon drop purple variants during high tide. Check each area twice daily since respawns follow a strict cycle. Players report full collection takes under 30 minutes with a fast boat.
The Golden Tide Quest is available on Moosewood Island at the exact location of the Advent Calendar and the Fischfright event beside the leaderboard. Here, you will find the scientist NPC, named Dr. Glimmerfin. Interact with the scientist and to know more about the event. Once done, he will ask you to collect four kinds of Algae in the following locations:
- Ancient Algae: Find this near the Ancient Isles or anywhere in the Ocean.
- Mushgrove Algae: Find this near Mushgrove Swamp.
- Snowcap Algae: Find this near Snowcap Island.
- Forsaken Algae: Find this near the Forsaken Shores Island.
Once you get an idea of all the required Algae from the Scientist, you need to watch the text message at the top of your screen. The message will state that a particular Algae has spawned near one of the abovementioned islands. You may keep roaming the waters to check for any such spawns. While you are here, don’t forget to redeem new Fisch codes to receive free cash, bait, and more rewards.
You must always be on high alert since the Algae can be collected on a first-come-first-serve basis. If someone reaches the location and catches one before you, there won’t be any more left. So, completing this event on a private server is recommended to get all four Algae as soon as possible.
Fisch Golden Tide Event Dr. Glimmerfin Quest Rewards
Players completing Dr. Glimmerfin’s quest during the Golden Tide Event can earn valuable rewards, including exclusive Golden Tide currency, rare materials for crafting, and limited-time cosmetic items. Finishing each stage grants bonus experience and event tokens, which can be spent at the event shop for special gear and decorations. Some tasks also drop unique Fisch accessories, making this quest one of the best opportunities to strengthen characters and collect rare items during the Golden Tide update.
Having collected all four types of Algae, head back to Moosewood and interact with the scientist NPC again. This will start a cutscene showing Dr. Glimmerfin’s boat shooting a laser beam on a Golden Wave. Once the cutscene ends, you will get rewarded with the following:
- Dr Glimmerfin’s Boat
- The Firework Rod
- Glimmer Bobber
- Glimmerfin’s Pupil Title
The Firework rod has decent luck, control, and resilience, balancing its overall stats. Moreover, this rod is the only way to get fish with the Firework mutation (15% chance), increasing their price by 3.5 times. This rod also helps reduce the speed of progress of catching a whale by 20%. That said, here are the stats of the rod:

Now, the Firework Rod is a well-balanced rod for the mid-game progression, and the best part is that you get it for free. The best enchantment to put on this rod is Hasty. The reason is that you can use fast bait with it to get an instant catch.
Where to find each Algae spawn location in Fisch
Snowcap Algae spawns in glowing pools near Snowcap Island, announced via server chat like “Algae has Spawned near the Snowcap Island.” Travel to the outer shores and fish in the grid-patterned pool that appears randomly every 40 minutes.
Mushgrove Algae appears at Mushgrove Swamp (or Mushgrove Island), signaled by “Algae has Spawned near the Mushgrove Swamp.” Locate the temporary pool outside the shore area and cast your line there.
Forsaken Algae is found near Forsaken Shores (or Forsaken Island), with a notification like “Algae has Spawned near the Forsaken Shores Island.” Boat around the perimeter to spot the distinct pool and fish quickly due to limited spawns.
Ancient Algae emerges by Ancient Isle, prompted by “Algae has Spawned near the Ancient Island.” Head outside the isle to the marked grid zone for fishing.

Ancient Algae spawns exclusively at Ancient Isles (also called Ancient Isle) in Fisch’s Golden Tide update.
Server-wide chat announces it with messages like “Algae has Spawned near the Ancient Island,” signaling a temporary glowing six-point grid-patterned pool offshore or near the isle’s perimeter.
