A fresh leak from Genshin Impact 5.3 has revealed Lan Yan, a new 4-star character from Liyue who wields Anemo and specializes in creating shields. Early details hint at a graceful fighter whose playstyle blends defense with swift, controlled bursts of wind power.
The new 4-star character is Lan Yan, an Anemo Catalyst user. With the Lantern Rite event leaked to be in version 5.3, Lan Yan will likely become the representative character for it.
Who Is Lan Yan in Genshin Impact
Lan Yan emerges as a new 4-star Anemo shielder from Liyue in Genshin Impact 5.3 leaks. She wields a polearm and channels Geo-infused Anemo abilities to generate shields that absorb both Anemo and Geo damage. Leaks portray her as a steadfast guardian tied to Liyue’s ancient traditions, with a kit focused on team protection and crowd control through swirling Geo particles. Her design features flowing robes in earthy tones, hinting at a balanced support role for exploration and combat.
Madame Ping was previously rumored to become playable in this Lantern Rite event, but, that no longer seems to be the case. However, Lanyan’s leaked splash art posted on Reddit shows a clear resemblance to Street Rambler, the Adepti form of Madame Ping. Although it’s clear that Madame Ping is not Lan Yan, it is possible that Lan Yan is actually related to her – maybe her granddaughter?

Recent leaks from HomDGcat has also revealed Lan Yan’s kit. She is going to be an Anemo shielder, while also acting as a crowd controller with her abilities. Her shields can also undergo elemental conversion into Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro elements, making it quite useful against such enemies.
Overall, it’s great to have another shielder in Genshin Impact. It’s also a relief that another 5-star character is not going to compete with Mavuika and Citlali, because that would be very hard for Genshin Impact players, especially if they don’t follow our Genshin codes list to extra primogems.

At C0, it unleashes one Feathermoon Ring for 3 Anemo hits (each potentially accompanied by 3 off-element hits at 50% scaling after absorption), totaling around 900-1500% motion value depending on constellations; C1 doubles this to 2 rings for 6/12 hits.

Her Burst creates a Feathermoon Swallow Array that pulls enemies and deals multiple instances of AoE Anemo DMG, with a 15-second cooldown and 60 Energy cost. It supports grouping but is not used every rotation due to energy constraints.
