How to Start the Ghostbuster Quest in Dig
To begin the Ghostbuster Quest in Dig, talk to the NPC called Dr. Spectra near the haunted ruins area. She’ll explain that strange ghost energy has been spotted and will assign you the first objective – collecting energy traces using the Specter Detector tool. Make sure you’ve progressed far enough in the main storyline to access this area; otherwise, the quest marker won’t appear. Completing her initial task triggers a series of ghost-clearing missions that lead toward earning the Ectoplasm Sleeve reward.
The Ghostbuster quest NPC, Sam Colby, is located at the Graveyard behind the merchant at the Rooftop Woodlands. Once you are at the entrance of the Rooftop Woodlands, follow these steps to locate the quest initiator:
- Drive past the NPC named Grant Thorn at the entrance of Rooftop Woodlands and cross the Spore Spade shovel as well.
- Once you find the merchant and mechanic a little further, go behind them.
- Here, you will find the graveyard, and inside will be the NPC named Sam Colby at the following coordinates: 3718, 226, -651.
- Interact with Sam, and he’ll ask you to find 3 Ghosts (Legendary item).
Now the Ghostbuster quest has started, and all you need to do is dig out 3 Ghosts and then talk to Sam to get all the rewards.
How to Find Ghosts Easily in Dig
Ghosts appear randomly throughout Dig, but they’re more common in darker areas or near ruins. Equip the Ghost Detector to locate their positions-its signal grows stronger as you approach one. Keep your tools upgraded to capture them faster, and explore during nighttime cycles, since ghost activity increases then. Grouping up with other players can also help, as ghosts spawn more frequently when multiple players are nearby.
Ghosts are the legendary items you can find by digging in a specific Dig location, especially Rooftop Woodlands. Although you might see large groups of people digging continuously at the graveyard, it’s a myth that these can be found only in that area. Through my experience, I had even dug out a ghost from digging beside the mechanic, but I had a good shovel at the moment. You can check out the Dig shovel list and pick one with a better luck stat.

But, there are a few preferences when the Ghosts are more available than usual. If you want to have more chances of finding the Ghost in Dig, dig during the Summer season and Foggy weather. You can also look for the dig beacons that emit golden lights around the Rooftop Woodlands. You will have guaranteed a legendary through digging them.
Apart from these, using Legendary Magnets can slightly increase your chance of getting this item by digging. Moreover, try to dig for ghosts during special weather events in Dig, like the Meteor shower or the Clover storm, to boost your luck, and during a Blue Moon event to boost your strength so that you can dig them faster.
That last thing you must keep in mind is that if you don’t start this quest and head on to find ghosts, then no matter how many you dig them out, they won’t count towards the Ghostbuster quest.
How to Reroll Ectoplasm Sleeve Stats
To reroll Ectoplasm Sleeve stats, visit the upgrade station found in the Ghostbuster area and select your sleeve from the inventory menu. Use ectoplasm shards or reroll tokens to randomize its attributes such as damage boost or ghost resistance. The process resets all current stats, so confirm your choice carefully. Higher-tier materials increase the chance of rolling rarer bonuses, making it worth saving strong resources before attempting multiple rerolls.
Once you have collected all 3 ghosts, head back to Sam at the Graveyard and interact with him to get the Ectoplasm Sleeve charm as the reward. Since this is a one-time quest, the pips you receive on this charm can’t be refreshed again by going back to Sam.
This way, most of the players might have bad stats in this charm and might want to replace them. To fix that, use the Charm Chisel in Dig to reroll the pips of the Ectoplasm Sleeve charm in Dig. Here is how to do it:
- Purchase the Charm Chisel from the Appraiser at Fox Town.
- Open your equipment bag and select the Charms tab on the top.
- Select the Ectoplasm Sleeve and click on the pencil icon to reroll its stats.
- Pay the required amount of cash, and the stats will then change.
Do make sure that you have unequipped the charm before the whole process; otherwise, you won’t be able to reroll its stats. Repeat this process a few times until you get the best stats preferred by you.
