Since each profile only receives one Cooked Owl, many players create extra accounts, log them in during the update, and later transfer the pets to a main account through trading. If you missed the event, the pet cannot drop from eggs or normal gameplay anymore, so your only option is to trade with players who claimed it during the live release.
Similar to the Chicken Zombie and Panda in Grow a Garden, the free Cooked Owl pet will only be obtainable for a short duration, in a specific way.
To get the Cooked Owl pet, you simply need to be in the game when the Grow a Garden Working Bees update drops. The new pet will be added to your inventory automatically, likely after a cutscene that will play a the time of release, i.e., June 14, 2025, at 7:00 AM PST. And well, the Twilight Shop Owl decided to bamboozle the players with the worst stock of all time. I mean, one time would’ve been fine. But the event ran twice, and the shop didn’t have any good items the second time as well. So, Jandel apologized to the community and said that he will cook the bird to exact revenge on it.
To everyone’s surprise, he wasn’t kidding. Everyone received a new cosmetic item, Cooked Owl on a barbeque grill, with the Friendship update. However, this was disappointing for the players as they expected to receive a new free pet.

All we have is a leaked image of the Cooked Owl from the official Grow a Garden Discord server, where you can clearly notice the smoke coming out of its head, a tanned body, and bones for its feet.

All active pets gain a continuous +0.17 XP per second bonus, accelerating leveling across your collection over time.
