Mojang has finally lifted the veil on its highly anticipated Minecraft Summer Game Drop 2025, officially titled “Chase the Skies”-a soaring update set to transform how players build, explore, and compete across breathtaking airborne worlds.
As revealed hours ago, the Minecraft Summer Game Drop will be called Chase the Skies. The update name is, of course, quite apt as crafters are getting the brand new ghast variants, including the cute flying happy ghast mob.
For those unaware, the happy ghasts are tameable creatures you can raise from their initial stages when they’re just a dried ghast block. It all begins in the Nether dimension, where you can get the dried ghast, bring it to the overworld, waterlog it to convert it into a ghastling, and finally wait for the ghastling to convert into a happy ghast.
Chase the Skies Also Brings Player Locator Bar
The subtitle text should be: “Chase the Skies Also Brings Player Locator Bar”
Finding your friends has never been easier since Snapshots introduced the Player Locator Bar. This new tool will show all your friends’ positions as colorful indicators called waypoints.
This way, you won’t need to follow any coordinates or the random directions given by your friends. However, if you like to stay hidden from the radar, consider crouching, wearing a mob head or a carved pumpkin, or using a potion of invisibility.

New Crafting Recipes For Lead and Saddles
Players can now craft leads and saddles without relying solely on loot drops or villagers. The new recipes use a mix of leather, iron ingots, and string, aligning with the game’s updated crafting balance. This change gives adventurers more flexibility when taming and traveling with horses or other rideable mobs, making exploration smoother and resource collection more rewarding.
With the new update in Minecraft, leads and saddles are now easier to craft. While the former only requires 5 Strings, the latter requires 3 Leather and an Iron Ingot. Furthermore, we have a brand new material called Ghast Harness that can be used to mount the happy ghasts.
Leads and shears have a new functionality where leads can be used to make a caravan of mobs, while now you can use shears to cut off leashes attached to the mobs.
Visual Overhaul with Vibrant Visuals
The Chase the Skies update refreshes Minecraft with a striking new visual direction. Blocks and biomes now feature richer colors, smoother shading, and more dynamic lighting effects that highlight details during both day and night. Weather patterns appear more dramatic, clouds move with greater realism, and textures have been adjusted to feel livelier without losing the game’s classic charm. Mojang’s art team has refined every scene to make exploration feel brighter, richer, and more atmospheric than before.
Finally, the Bedrock edition of Minecraft is receiving a massive visual upgrade. Vibrant Visuals will introduce new light shadow mechanics, bring new shadows and shading, fog effects, and enhanced biome beauty.
While you’re adoring the sunrise-drenched oceans or exploring the glowing firefly bushes near river beds, Vibrant Visuals adds a layer of immersion that redefines your Minecraft experience. Want to try it already? Check out how to turn on Vibrant Visuals in Minecraft.
