When Does Fortnite Chapter 6 Start?

Fortnite Chapter 6 is expected to begin shortly after the current season concludes, following the usual downtime Epic Games schedules for updates and server maintenance. While the exact release date hasn’t been confirmed, leaks and in-game hints suggest that Chapter 6 Season 1 will arrive in early 2026. The new chapter is rumored to feature a Japanese-inspired theme, bringing fresh locations, weapons, and mechanics that reflect traditional and modern Japanese culture.

The next chapter of Fortnite starts on December 1, 2024. While we don’t have the exact launch time yet, we can tell you when to expect it based on previous updates. First, there’s the Chapter 2 Remix finale event with Juice WRLD skin on November 30.

After the second show wraps up, the servers will go offline for the update. So if we have to take a guess, you should be able to play Chapter 6 between 4:00-6:00 AM ET on December 1.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 Downtime

Following the end of Chapter 5 Season 4, Fortnite will go offline for scheduled maintenance to prepare for Chapter 6 Season 1. During this downtime, players won’t be able to join matches or access the main menu as Epic Games updates servers and content files. The length of the downtime can vary, but it typically lasts a few hours before the new season becomes available across all platforms.

Fortnite server downtime usually occurs at the end of seasons. As such, we estimate that Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 downtime will begin after the end of Chapter 2 Remix on 10 PM ET. Stay tuned for the exact timings as more information comes out.

What’s Coming in Fortnite Chapter 6?

You’ll see new areas on the map like shrines, rivers, plains, farmland, and forests. If you’re into crossovers, you’ll see both Godzilla and Baymax from Big Hero 6 joining the game.

Something else worth mentioning: Fortnite OG is coming back on December 6, and this time it’s staying. You’ll be able to play all ten seasons from Chapter 1, with all the original weapons and items. You can play it in both Build and Zero Build modes, so you can choose how you want to experience it.
